Enslen Park...Vanessa Midgley
Vanessa joined the Company in 2022 as Controller and now serves as Chief Financial Officer. Vanessa graduated from the Walter A. Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She is a licensed CPA in the State of California. Vanessa started her career working for a Big 4 Accounting Firm in San Francisco including a two-year global rotation in the United Kingdom. She gained valuable experience in a diverse mix of industries including consumer products, professional sports, retail, and technology. Her expertise spans U.S. and international accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, financial management and process improvement.
After leaving public accounting, Vanessa managed the domestic and international consolidated financial reporting for a private mid-size financial institution owned by a French Bank. This allowed her to put into practice her knowledge of global accounting and reporting standards for a private company while working with key areas of the Bank such as Treasury, Credit Risk, Commercial/Retail Banking and Wealth Management. Vanessa brings over 20 years of experience in finance and accounting. Her commitment to excellence, financial transparency and strategic decision-making contributes to the growth and success of the Company.
Vanessa’s family is her greatest joy. Her three children and husband enjoy the beach, playing sports, traveling, and taking advantage of all that life has to offer.
Dale Boyett
Dale Boyett is a native Modestan. He graduated from Central Catholic and eventually from St. Mary’s College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
In 1993, Dale began his career in the petroleum industry, working alongside his father to grow their 10 employee company, to over 150 employees. In 2004, Dale became the President of Boyett Petroleum and has driven the company’s substantial growth. He now holds the CEO position of Boyett Petroleum. Dale is a leader in the petroleum industry and has been president of the (CIOMA) California Independent Oil Marketers Association and is President-elect of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America (SIGMA).
When Dale is not working, you can find him spending time with his two children – Cole (15) and Reese (14), sitting on many local boards, including the Gallo Center for the Arts, investing in new ventures – the latest being Wally’s in Pontiac, IL, presiding over his own foundation – Make Dreams Real, and now dabbling in the Tech world as a founding board member of Cipher Skin!
Scott Castle
Scott Castle is a Sonora native, but moved to Modesto after completing his service in the Army in 1989. Scott graduated from California State University, Stanislaus, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Following his military service, he spent a number of years in the transportation industry before joining Boyett.
Scott began his career with Boyett Petroleum in 2001, joining the company as the Assistant Controller. He is now the President and also serves on the Boyett Petroleum Board of Directors. When Scott isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Cristie and two daughters Ceara and Sydney at home in Modesto, playing golf and working on home improvement projects.
Katie Hollowell
Katie Hollowell joined Boyett Petroleum in 2007 as its general counsel and now serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Assistant Secretary. Born and raised in Ohio, she received her B.A. in Economics from John Carroll University and her J.D. from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Ms. Hollowell is a member of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America and the California Fuel + Convenience Alliance and in 2019 she joined the board of directors for CFCA.
Katie loves spending time with her husband Joe, their two sons Levi and Knox, and their dog Biscuit. When they are together, they are typically RVing, at the soccer and football fields, golf course or traveling. Balancing career and family is her only consistent daily workout. To wind down, she enjoys good wine, good friends and a good episode of carpool karaoke.
Ken Berns
Ken Berns, VP Wholesale Marketing, joined the company in 1998 after previously heading Modesto’s cable television company CableOne. Ken is a native Californian, born and raised in Southern California Ken moved to Northern California to attend the University of California, Berkeley. Ken obtained a Real Estate Brokers license and opened a residential and commercial brokerage business, with two partners, on the San Francisco Peninsula. Ken next joined Capital Cities Cable acquiring right-of-way agreements for the cable television system it was constructing in Burlingame, CA. In 1985 when promoted to manage the company’s largest cable system Ken moved to Modesto. Ken met Carl Boyett through Rotary where Ken followed Carl as Rotary President. During Ken’s year as President Carl introduced the golf tournament fundraiser which now anchors Boyett Petroleum’s Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund. Besides Modesto Sunrise Rotary Ken was also President of the Modesto Symphony and served on the Boards of Modesto Junior College Foundation and the Modesto Convention and Visitors Bureau. Ken is a member of SIGMA and on the Phillips66 National Advisory Council. When he isn’t working, Ken is likes to be outside when its warm which may explain frequent trips to Cabo San Lucas. He also enjoys running and is a member of Del Rio Country Club. Ken has a daughter currently living in Croatia.
Carole Boyett
Clark Nakamura
Clark joined Boyett Petroleum in 2009 and is responsible for purchasing fuel, dispatch and some of the sales related activities. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from UC Riverside and is also a certified nerd who is a connoisseur of Sci-Fi books, great food and keeping up with the latest rap beefs. When he’s through with work he loves spending time with his family (even though they might still be upset that he’s not a dentist), and his dog Bucket (who doesn’t judge him for not being a dentist).
